Welcome to the 5th edition of DIGINEWS Awards (formerly DIGIPUB Awards), Why the change of name?

When DIGIPUB was launched in 2017, legacy publishers had already begun to disseminate news online. TV broadcasters and other video news producers were still some years from doing that because watching video online was unaffordable to most Indians.

Times have changed dramatically since then.

Much of news online is now consumed in video format as naturally as it is digested in text.

Hence the imperative to change the name from DIGIPUB to DIGINEWS.

What does this mean to you in practical terms?

As before, anyone in the online news business can participate. But there is a fresh emphasis on the video format to reflect the altered online news landscape.
